International Pandemic Treaty
Ten things.
This may be where I finally join the loonies (Oh, so you think that was a while ago?):
1) I do not think the pandemic is a lie. The damn bug is real and does kill people. Not as many as various agencies in various countries have stated and more than some other agencies have stated.
2) There is no credible evidence that the bug is the result of biological warfare or other research or was released by mankind (whether for benign or malign intent). I do not beleive that China or even one of the rogue states released the bug to destroy the ‘Western’ economy and advance their own.
3) I did not think the first lockdown in Wuhan (Hubei province, People’s Republic of China) was a good idea. I thought it was a hideous over-reaction - but maybe to be expected from a non-democratic government. Then Italy, then the UK also reached for the ban-hammer - and it didn’t work (the bug receded in the warm Northern hemisphere Summer months like all respiratory bugs do). When the bug resurfaced towards Winter they reached for the same tool and it still didn’t work - until the warmer Spring months arrived. Genius. Even if governments told people not to worry about not working and gave away free money and food people would still catch the damn bug off each other when they went to get their share and take it home to their families. The WHO even recommended against lockdowns in pandemic planning. Lockdowns are net-harmful to a large degree.
4) The various governments of the world or elites did not collude to exploit lockdowns to ‘reset’ society. They couldn’t do that to ban nuclear weapons or even eliminate polio. They can’t agree what a fair society should look like - so they sure as hell can’t agree to reset the old one.
5) Anti-bug vaccine development has been rushed - they have not passed phase III clinical trials but are already approved to be injected into millions (potentially billions) of people. I doubt they will prove to be net-harmful, but if they are then it’s best they start by gathering as much evidence of that as possible from old and redundant people (like me). I used to volunteer for phase I clinical trials and receive compensation for my time and inconvenience. For this trial I get to help prove the vaccine is safe (or otherwise) before they put it into my grandchildren.
6) ‘Face coverings’ (masks) as mandated by the UK government don’t stop the spread of respiratory diseases. A report by WHO states that 12-16 layer cotton masks may help reduce transmission. The imposition and use of masks is net-harmful, but not by much.
7) One thing some governments have done right is to try to mitigate the impact of the lockdowns through financial support. I’m actually impressed with how quickly the furlough scheme was set up in the UK. However, I view that as only somewhat mitigating the harm we’ve done by imposing lockdown. Our governments have borrowed enormous amounts of money to achieve this and that will have to be paid back - my grandchildren will be paying for this when they start their working careers in a decade or so.
8) When our current governments next face the electorate at an election (it’s OK, you’re not on this hook, China) I do hope the people/press/media will remember if the opposition parties were arguing for more or less draconian measures and take that into consideration. I fear that in a few years we may well find we have new and inexperienced governments in most democratic countries - such a combination is not good for the world.
9) Nobody is trying to inject microchips or sterilise sections of the population. There is no coordinated campaign to cow the populations of the world into accepting dictatorship. The vaccines are not made of aborted children or haram/non-kosher meat. This not the start of an alien invasion. However, there are scammers, chancers, criminals and legitimate businesses trying to make a profit out of these changed circumstances.
10) Loonie Alert: Various government leaders are now calling for an international treaty on pandemics. I strongly suspect this is, in part, intended to get a mutual approval for actions taken in imposing lockdowns. It’s an exercise in arse-covering.
