GPS error caused '12 hours of problems' for companies

News on 4 Feb 2016 that a problem with a GPS satellite had caused 12 hours of problems for some companies.

Questions: What were the affected companies’ contingency plans? Did they invoke them quickly enough? Were the plans effective?

If not, don’t invest in or rely on those companies until they get their act together.

Supplementary question: If one of the affected companies was your supplier: what was your contingency plan?
